COVID Policies and Procedures
Discovery Point Kidz will follow all Local and State safety guidelines for healthy practices for childcare facilities in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Health and Social Distancing
- DPP Kidz @ Smokey’s Cubhouse is a mixed age group of children. We will maintain a daily attendance of 14 children with staff ratios according to large home daycare requirements of the State of California.
a. Children will be kept in groups smaller than 10 and mixed ages will not co-mingle unless they are outdoors, and social distancing can be maintained. - Staff will meet parents at the door of the facility and after school children will enter through the back.
- A daily log of children will be maintained for three weeks.
- Children who show symptoms of a cough, shortness of breath, a fever, chills, little to no appetite of loss of smell or taste will not be admitted into the facility until they have been symptom free for 48 hours.
- A fever is anything higher than 100.4. Upon each entry children and staff’s temperature will be taken with a no-touch thermometer.
- If a child or staff member shows signs of illness during the day, fever, coughing, difficulty breathing, diarrhea, or vomiting, immediate isolation will be implemented and parents or authorized individuals will be asked to immediately pick up the child.
- Strict hand washing guidelines will be enforced for all staff and children. Staff will supervise and assist with proper hand washing. Hand washing will occur upon entry of the facility, before and after mealtime, after using the restroom,
- Children will be reminded to keep hands away from their face and cough or sneeze into their elbow.
- Children will remain within the premises at all times. We will extend outdoor play, weather permitting. Indoor and outdoor schedules will be staggered to reduce the number of children in the same area and to allow for social distancing.
- All personal items will be labeled and kept separate from others. Sharing of personal items will not be allowed. Please limit the number of personal items that are brought by the children.
Facility Guidelines
- Sanitizing of all surfaces, furniture, toilets, sinks, doorknobs, manipulatives etc. will be done throughout the day and at the end of each day.
- Tables and chair trays will be disinfected at the end of each day.
- Toys and manipulatives will be disinfected each day.
- Parents will be required to provide pillows and blankets for nap and rest time. Sheets are provided for cribs and cots.
- Staff will be required to wear masks.
- Hand sanitizers and cleaning supplies will be kept out of the reach of children.
NOTE: The COVID-19 pandemic is a challenging and fluid situation. Federal, state and local orders and guidance may change frequently. Please refer to the Child Care Licensing Webpage for up to date information and resources. The licensee will adhere to Inyo County Public Health and Prevention Division’s orders and guidelines for providing a healthy and safe childcare environment. The licensee will also incorporate policies and procedures provided by CDSS, California Department of Public Health, California Department of Education, health care providers, and other essential government authorities.
